Whether you’re building a tri, quad or hex, you can make your own frame out of common everyday materials: wood, plastic, metal – a friend even made one from an old towel rack he took from his bathroom!
Or, you can purchase one from almost any full service hobby store. Prices can run anywhere from a few dollars into the hundreds, depending on the brand. But a decent frame can be had relatively cheap – around $20 for a quad and $25 – $45 for hex.

This is for a simple Quad, but has an integrated power distribution board, meaning you can solder all your leads right to the bottom board – less weight since you don’t have to add a PDB.
