Getting the bug again
« on: April 02, 2018, 04:06:52 PM »
Well, I'm bummed about selling my stuff so I have a birthday in 2 weeks and my Son wants to get me back into another quad. He can't afford a lot but I was thinking about starting with the FrSky Q X7

https://www.banggood.com/FrSky-ACCST-Taranis-Q-X7-Transmitter-2_4G-16CH-White-Black-International-Version-p-1196246.html?rmmds=mywishlist&cur_warehouse=CN

Does anyone have any experience with this radio? I'm also thinking about the Flysky radio which is much cheaper.

https://www.banggood.com/FlySky-i6-FS-i6-2_4G-6CH-AFHDS-RC-Transmitter-Without-Receiver-p-1148659.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN

It'll be kinda like going from a Porsche to a ford but it's better than nothing.   :t2030:

Actually I'm looking at this transmitter since I'm probably looking at micro quads and even thinking about a micro helicopter. Due to health reasons for now most of my flying will be either indoors or in my small back yard. Hopefully there will come a day when I can get back into bigger stuff.

I'm thinking about one of these quads.

I may even build one like the 110 I built last year, I really liked the way it flew. I'm thinking about these FPV goggles.

I'm thinking it'll be around $250.00 all totaled, not too bad huh?   :coolguy:

I hear you Sobodad, I figure with that transmitter I can grab a BNF quad and maybe a BNF heli like a WLtoys V977 or the XK K110. The transmitter supports telemetry so it's not a toy, it can do big boy stuff too I'm really curious what this thing has under the hood, it should be fun.   :t2030:

My QX95 got here today, sorry I still haven't found my cell phone mount for my tripod so I can't provide any videos yet. I've ordered another one but it won't be here for a week or so, but I took a few pictures, not real exciting but it's something anyway.  :t2030:

This quad comes really nicely packaged and comes with a nice manual, unusual for Banggood (You can see part of my Cessna 170 behind the box, hopefully that will be done this week):

It comes with some extras like 2 batteries, 4 spare props, 2 spare motors, a charging cable some spare rubber bands and some velcro for the batteries:

I'm going to break out my new QX-7 radio, bind it and connect it to Cleanflight or Betaflight and configure it. If I do get to do a maiden, I'll try to prop up my phone to do a video after all I can't do a maiden with no video right?  :b0201: :b0201:

Well I bound my QX95 to my QX-7 and this is what I get. I tried to connect to Cleanflight and Betaflight with no success but that may be due to a bad USB cable. Usually I have 3 or 4 of these cables laying around but now it seems the only one I could find was a little beat up so I don't know if it's bad or not. I just ordered another one from Walmart, my Son is going to pick it up later and I'll give that one a try. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this quad to act this way or am I just having a senior moment?   :b0708: :b0708: :b0708:

And no, this does not qualify as a maiden.   :b0201: :b0201:

I'm thinking it's either motor or blade direction issue, calibration of something, Throttle range issue on the ESC's or you just purchased a lemon.

Hi Al,

What exactly did you have to hook up?
I thought this was a BnF?

It is a BNF and that's what I did. I bound it to my QX-7 and this is what I got.  :headslap: :headslap:

Unless I can't see clearly, it looks like at least one of the black props is on backwards or upside down. At the 13 second mark it would be the black prop at the right front.

Yeah your front right prop is the wrong one.

Make sure the prop is lead by the high side and it spins from out to in ..

The others look ok and looks like the motors are all spinning the right way.
