is this the right stuff to use to protect exposed electronics? like my gimbal board and other stuff. if so is there cheaper stuff?

I'm not familiar with this stuff myself, but it sure was highly regarded in the reviews, and a number of the reviewers mentioned use on RC's including quadcopters.

We use DroneDry,but it looks to be a buck more expensive. You could check out what the boaters use for their electronics. Maybe they have something different.
