American Flyer
« on: January 02, 2016, 10:47:42 AM »
Welp...I got tagged a little.
Went to my sister's for Chirstmas and she gave a big box of her late husbands "toys." Inside was a Lionel train set from around the mid eighties. She said it didn't work - HAH! Child's play. Then Ann reminded me that she had an old train set from when she was little. I found that one in the pole barn and drug it in the house thinking maybe i could combine the two.

Inside was an original American Flyer train set # K5419T (I looked it up). It's a two-track system from 1952-53 complete with the hand car and working spotlight car. Everything works  It only came with curved track, enough to make about a 3 foot circle -- but there's this thing--- it's called ebay.

I now have enough track to make it to make it from my house to Port Huron about 28 miles  :face-slap: :b0201:

I'll try to post some pics later tonight.

Amazing what's in old tunks and barns! All my rolling stock is now with my son in Orange CA where he and his son can use it. I didn't have room in my small house for the layout it deserved. Still have the same old feelings, though, when I see your layout, Randy. May you spend many happy hours. AND - so far you don't have to register them!!  :b0230: :b0230:

Nice. I can just see it now ploughing through the snow from your front door to the barn.  What a sight that would make.

Hi Bear...Thanks. IT surely would be.

On a side note, I have tried to PM you and send regular mail to no avail. Do you not wish to receive messages or is something just screwed up on the forum end?

Either way it's all good.
