Bixler 2 --- Flaps?
« on: August 25, 2016, 07:36:26 PM »
Just for the guys on the forum...
I tried to talk in the vid, but was using the keychain cam so the audio sucks. But the query is about the FLAPS. WTF? What is their purpose and how should I program them?

The Flaps are simply used as you said .. Air Brakes .. to slow the plane down for landings ..
They should remain on their own channel so you can deploy them when you want to ..
Also they should only be used in a downward direction which will assist in generating up lift at low speeds ..

Other than that, they really have no use ..

If you do want to use them, make sure they both travel in the same downward direction when activated ..

I have not bothered cutting the ones on my Bix2 free, nor have I connected servos to them ..

Thanks Sobo. Good to know. Funny they would add that option to Bixler. I mean it's not like it goes so fast you would need the extra air brakes. :b0201:

Once you start adding FPV systems, larger batteries and so forth the weight increases which in turn increases the minimum flight speed required to stay in the air.

Without the use of Flaps you might find yourself running out of safe landing area a lot quicker than you planned ..  :headslap:
