Thanks for the update Baz and I agree with Dave. Having to wait a month when she is in that much pain is horrible! I am praying for you both.  :t2030:

Hi Dave, yes that's the way it is I'm afraid. Our National Health Service is free ( we all paid part of our income during our working lives to something called National Insurance which helps pay for it) but the downside is that most times we have to wait for appointments. Swings and roundabouts I guess. Actually, a month isn't too bad, though the sooner the better as far as we are concerned.

Hello Everyone, Just another quick check in. Wife Patsy had her MRI Scan today and will know results and what the future holds on the 26th of this month. Can't come soon enough as she remains in much pain despite heavy doses of painkillers. Needless to say, apart from an occasional quick spin, helicopters and quads are not uppermost in my mind at the moment. Bye for now. Baz

Hi Dave and everyone. Today we got the result of Patsy's MRI Scan. The pictures looked interesting but complicated. I guess if you were a doctor or someone in the medical profession they would have been totally clear. However, the bottom line is that she has arthritis in one vertibra - which is crumbling - and pressing on the one below. This is causing part of the disc to fill a hole through which a nerve should be popping. She is to have an cortizone injection into the spine (ouch!) which should hopefully relieve the pain. The downside is that our National Health Service, with all its benefits of being free, means another three months wait. Crutches and Wheelchair until then! Did get a lovely flight with my 130x recently when the weather was cold but sunny and absolutely still - no wind at all. Really enjoyed it. Back again soon I trust.

It's a shame Baz that having a National program forces people in need to wait for such long periods of time to get care. I sure hope they are at least giving her something to manage the pain during this wait. Always keeping good thoughts and prayers for you both.

I have basically grounded my heli and quad for now. No time for them. My mom just had open heart surgery two weeks ago and what time I have, I spend visiting her. Her recovery has been very rough and slow, and she is very weak. She has a long road ahead before they release her to a nursing home for recovery and rehab which will be even longer before she can go home. We are all just praying at this point and hoping for a holiday with her home instead of in a nursing home. The last three years she has been in and out of them during the holidays recovering for one thing or another... Maybe this year will be different? She has time, but she is struggling with keeping her spirits up.

Well Baz the good news is that they finally know what is wrong with her, the bad news is the more waiting to come.
The cortisone shot will releave the pain some, but yeah, in the spine. .... eww. ........ :b0703:

Rob, sorry to hear about your Mom, heart  surgery is never an easy thing but add age to it and well.......just takes lots of time......

Wishing the best to both of Y'all.

thanks Dave... you are right and she was frail to begin with, not having fully recovered yet from her broken ankle. very sad deal for her and all we can do is pray, hope, and encourage her to recover. if we can get her from the hospital and in to the nursing home, she will be fine. they are very good people there, very "down home" and kind. we just have to keep on her to keep her spirits up.

Sorry for chiming in so late Baz and Rob.

And sorry to hear of the health issues of your loved ones.

The only thing you can do is be there for them for support.

Thanks fellas... Much appreciated. It has taken my mom weeks to beat some depression she was dealing with over this, but she is finally improving a little more every day and finally eating, building her strength, getting stronger. She has weeks of recovery ahead of her yet, but she s finally moving in the right direction.
