DJI F550 Hexacopter
« on: April 05, 2019, 12:43:10 PM »
Itís been a while since Iíve been here. Medical issues and other things. I hope I can get an answer to my problem.

I have a F550 hexacopter that worked fine until a failed battery caused a cash. I decided to go with newer motors and ESCís but after the rebuild, the copter wobbles violently then crashes. Iíve tried new ECís and a new NAZA V2 flight controller and still the same results. Iíve synced all the ESCís and still wobbling after take off. Props are balanced and are carbon fiber. (10x4.3)The ESCís are all the same type and make. Sorry, no video, canít fly and record at the same time. It worked fine before the crash. Any suggestions.

Thanks,
Michael

Wow...Hi Michael!

Good to see/hear from you. Sorry tohear of your medical issues. I hope things are looking up now.

I haven't flown my hex in a really long time soI am not sure how much help I will be, but here goes:

One thing I remember is the Naza dance and then locking in satellites after you power up. Also when was the last time you updated the firmware? Not certain doing that will help - as I recall it was more of a pia than a help so do that as a last resort.

It might help to remove the props and observe the motors as it sits in one position and then as you lean the hex in different directions. And of course, make sure all the props are in the right orientations and that they are all on tight..

If I think of anything else, I'll give you a shout.

As Randy stated, the Naza dance is really important as it calibrates its gyros and IMU units. Without this the aircraft will rock back and forth and FOD. Also he mentioned to make sure all the motors are spinning in the correct directions as specified for the hex on the assistant. (With the props off) Remember the leading edge of each prop goes the direction of the motor so make sure the correct props are on the right motors.
Try to fly without GPS(ATTI) and if the trouble still exist then its not a GPS issue.

When you test the hex out and as soon as you get it out of its rotor wash, If it starts to rock back and forth land immediately.
Best place to start if it was me.

Thank for the suggestions. I did the dance and rechecked the motors for proper rotation and all is correct. I did adjust the flight parameters. I had them set for the e300 motors and I have install different motors and props. I'll check that out tomorrow and let you know what happens.

Thanks for the help.
