New Goggles for FPV
« on: June 03, 2015, 11:10:57 AM »
The news has been kind of quiet recently but HK has come up with version 2 of their Quantum goggles.

Our latest version of the Quanum DIY FPV Goggles follow on from the successful version 1 goggles and incorporates some major changes, such as adjustable 3 position head straps, neoprene support glove, and integral storage pockets for Battery, FPV Video Receiver and Headtracker components.

The newly manufactured monitor housing will make your immersive experience even better due to its re-contoured face cut-out with spacing for your nose and better cut out areas for facial contact.

Imaging is done by an 800 x 480 super pixel display, and of course non-blue screen monitor that has option for a forward looking camera using the integrated switching unit to enable you to attach any small FPV camera to the front of your goggles, allowing you to switch between the on board flight image or forward looking camera image making take offs, landings and simply looking for your radio even easier.

Features:
DIY FPV goggle kit for Head Tracker
5 TFT monitor, with 3X-magnifying lens for superior FPV experience
Light weight EPP foam goggle case, designed for face fitting
Focal length adjustment
Quanum Multi-purpose Neoprene goggle glove with pockets for Head Tracker, switcher, FPV receiver and small Lipo pack
Adjustable head strap, loops for wire management

Specs:
EPP Foam goggle case size: 162mm x 170mm x 102mm
Neoprene goggle glove size: 300mm x 230mm
5 TFT monitor resolution: 800 x 480 pixels
Format: PAL/NTSC supported
Supply Voltage: 7 ~ 13V
Focal Length Adjustment: Fresnel Lens
Weight: 376g

*Note: This is the viewing goggles only, and needs to be paired with your favorite Video receiver, transmitter, camera and battery for the full FPV experience.

NOTE: This is a Pre-Order Item. Stock available post 5th of June, 2015.

That's a nice set-up and incorporates some of the things that Tom added. And 55 bucks is cheap.

I really like the cheap part a lot.  b0111.gif b0111.gif b0111.gif

It's a good solution if your not looking to invest into the higher type priced goggles...

Some smart folks there at HK--I like that setup.

I agree, but would be even smarter if they would just sell the strap kit for the ones of us that already have the whole set up with out that strap... Maybe one day...

Just got an email about this one today as well.

I just bought the complete V1 setup and no doubt had the same problems as everyone else ..
Where to put the battery / RX and so on ..

Why do they always do these things to me  :headslap:

Anyway, I'm going to order one of these as well because I could never modify the one I have now enough to be happy with it when I know this new one is available.
This better one will be my primary FPV and I will setup the original one as a piggyback system for someone else to use while I am flying.

That sounds like a good plan--let us know how it works out when you get it set up.  All this FPV talk may force me to dust everything off and do some flying today.  We're now on a 4 day summer schedule work week, so I have the day off!
